|CHRIS MCCARTY RETURNS TO GAINESVILLE FOR KEIRA GRACE BENEFIT CONCERT APRIL 29, 2011
GAINESVILLE, FLA. – Multi-talented singer, songwriter and guitarist, Chris McCarty will perform at Dirty Bar in Gainesville on April 29, to benefit Keira Grace Foundation. The goal of the event is to raise $1,500 in one night for children with cancer and their families in the Dominican Republic.
Founders of the organization, Drs. Michael and Eileen Lauzardo say the funds raised from McCarty’s concert will go towards the foundation’s program, "Deliver the Cure: Dominican Republic,” which is improving survival rates of pediatric cancer patients by 400 percent.
"For the same amount of money it costs to treat one child for cancer in the United States, we can save 10 children in a country like the Dominican Republic,” said Dr. Michael Lauzardo. "Our mission with Keira Grace Foundation is to share the cure for cancer that is readily available to American children with those children in developing countries.”
McCarty performed at Keira Grace Foundation’s "Share the Cure 2011” fundraising event in February and was moved by the impact the Lauzardos have made with the foundation in such a short time.
"We can change things and make the world a better place for children in the Dominican Republic” said McCarty. "Everything that is so easy for us is so powerful for them, so why wouldn’t you want to help?”
Orange Hour (www.orangehourmusic.com) will open for McCarty at 9 p.m. McCarty will take the stage at 10 p.m. and perform fan favorites like, "The Next One,” which was featured in The Sims 2 video game, and new songs from his soon-to-be-released album, "Just Live.” Also featured will be McCarty’s new song, "Butterfly,” which debuted at "Share the Cure 2011,” and was recently released in the independent film soundtrack, "Beautiful Noise.” McCarty also co-starred in the movie that was filmed in Sarasota.
McCarty’s music is a wide variety of rock with a little acoustic-funk-soul-reggae and whatever-else-gets-mixed-in blend. His music’s high-energy and eclectic vibe combined with his rejection of the idea to only focus on one particular musical style contributes to his huge following across the nation and abroad. In addition to performing solo, McCarty has shared the stage with the legendary James Brown, Dave Matthews, Blues Traveler, G-Love & Special Sauce, Jake Owen, Sister Hazel, Sugar Ray and the Wailers.
